Tripartisan Technologies develops very thin polymer films for the electronics, pharmaceutical, energy, membrane and optics industry. At only a few microns thick, these free standing films can be single or multilayer. In fact, Tripartisan’s unrivaled flexible manufacturing methods allow thin polymer films to be made even from amorphous polymers like polycarbonate, polysulfone, or acrylic. In addition, this novel manufacturing approach also allows unusually high loadings of functional particles like nanoparticulates, pigments, quantum dots, or solar nanocrystals with reduced reliance on surfactants or compatibilizers. Our custom designed supports can be engineered to reduce the cost of very expensive additives (like gold nanoparticles used in giant dielectric permittivity films) by applying them in only low micron films. Similarly, if there are other design constraints such as weight, volume, diffusion, or optical absorption, Tripartisan designed free standing webs may be ideal for the application. In addition, many applications require unique surface functionality, such as appearance, hardness, or surface energy, but do not require this functionality in the bulk of the component. In this regard, Tripartisan webs can be used on the surface of the device, and modified injection molding, lamination, or thermoset molding can be used to form the bulk.

Tripartisan works with its’ customers both to supply off the shelf thin polymer films or to custom design thin film products to customer specifications. Please contact us to discuss how we can help you develop your next products!
